Built in 1929, The Gray House is the personal home of Grayhaus founder Sara Gray and her family. Originally the first residence in its neighborhood, the nearly century-old house arrived with a scrapbook documenting generations of life within its walls — an unexpected inheritance that shaped the philosophy behind its renovation.

Guided by a sense of stewardship, the project sought to honor the home's architectural history while allowing it to evolve for contemporary family life. A comprehensive interior renovation and two additions thoughtfully reimagined the house without erasing its original character, creating spaces that feel as though they have developed naturally over time.

Traditional craftsmanship, richly textured natural materials, and a carefully collected mix of antique and contemporary furnishings bring depth and quiet individuality to the interiors. An 18th-century mantel, custom ironwork from a historic English foundry, and materials selected for their ability to age gracefully reflect a belief in beauty that deepens with time.

Throughout the home, inherited furniture, family heirlooms, and objects gathered over a lifetime exist alongside contemporary and custom pieces. The result is a home shaped as much by memory as by design — rooted in its past, reflective of the family who lives there today, and open to the stories still to come.
